CLASS VI HISTORY AND MISSION

Class River Runners - Adventure with Class

There's something about being on or around a river that reaches deep into the human soul. Whether it's a quiet moment as you watch the sunlight dance across the surface of the water or the feel of water as the wave breaks over the bow of the raft, it's an experience that may change the way you look at life. And, it's a whole lot of fun!

A good river experience is an investment. The skills, attitudes and values of the company with which you choose to raft can make or break your vacation.

Below is a brief description on some of the adventures we offer. With on call, we can create an adventure package that includes whitewater rafting, climbing, mountain biking, fishing, lodging, camping, and dining.

Please email us at classvi@serioussports.com for our latest 28 page color catalog. Our catalog conveys much of our company's philosophy and describes the different adventures available. We hope that you read it carefully, compare it critically with other companies' literature, ask questions - then make an active, informed choice.

We look forward to doing business with you.

THE NEW AND GAULEY RIVERS

How far must you go to get the best?

How far are you from Southern West Virginia's New River Gorge National River and the Gauley River National Recreation Area?

The New and the Gauley are two of North America's premier whitewater rivers, part of the largest federally protected watershed in the Eastern United States.

They're two of the best recreational rivers because of the variety of experiences they offer, from family adventure trips on the upper sections of the New River (mild), to classic whitewater on the Lower New (wild), to the exhilarating world-class challenges of the Gauley (extremely wild!).

Whether you come to West Virginia in the Spring, Summer or Fall, you can count on running a section of these rivers. Class VI River Runners maintains a fleet of top notch river craft and has a professional staff ready to meet the demands of practically any water level nature grants us.

The rivers carve deep canyons through one of North America's most scenic and culturally fascinating regions. Our home is in the world's oldest mountains among the world's most diverse hardwood forests. We're surrounded by splendid State and National parks and forest reserves.

Come explore with us. Experience "America's Best Whitewater" in hassle-free comfort, secure with a company dedicated to excellence in every detail. We are "Whitewater Wise - Customer Driven" and "In Quest of Too Much Fun!".

THE LOWER NEW RIVER
Rafting The New River One of the oldest rivers in North America, the river flows through a rugged canyon up to 1300 feet in depth, exposing rocks as old as 330 million years, while passing through an area rich in coal mining history. Squeezing down between rugged mountains, the river alternates from Class II-V rapids to pools perfect for swimming. Upper and Lower Railroad, the Keeneys, Miller's Folly, and Double Z are among the many rapids that lie in wait.
THE UPPER NEW RIVER
Single Duckie Inflatable Kayaks Over 80% of the National River section of the New River is perfect for families, multi-generational groups (junior and senior citizens), and those desiring a mild introduction to whitewater. Not only are there some fun Class I-III rapids, but watch for wildflowers, birds and shy critters. Take the raft for maximum ease, or a double (two person) ducky for a challenge.
THE GAULEY
On the Gauley The Gauley River flows Spring, Summer, and Fall. During the spring, summer, and fall weekdays, flows depend on local rains in the mountains of West Virginia. The river levels dictate which section we will raft and which type of river craft we will use.

On Fall weekends, the river levels and flow are increased by the raw pent-up power harnessed the Summersville Lake which bursts forth from mammoth tubes at the Summersville Dam and into the Gauley riverbed.

Sporting more than 100 major rapids as it drops 650 feet in its 28 mile run, the Gauley is North America's premier stretch of Fall whitewater. Can you do it?

KAYAKING & FISHING

KAYAK CLINICS
Kayak ClinicsLearn the basics or hone paddling and rolling techniques. Instructors fit the program to the participant's skill level in on- and off-river sessions. One day clinics are available but two or more days are encouraged for skill practice and development. The Four Day Camp/Clinic is new this season, featuring a raft-supported, camp-on-river, four-day clinic -- the best!

GREAT SMALLMOUTH BASS & MUSKIE FISHING
The New and Gauley Rivers offer more than great whitewater rafting. The New River has been rated one of the top four fishing rivers in the country by Sports Afield magazine. The Gauley River is gaining an equally impressive reputation as a world class muskie fishery. The real bonus is that both rivers are beautiful, remote, wild rivers. Rafts with rigid, inflatable floors are equipped with padded, swivel pedestal seats for two experienced anglers. Find out why Outdoor Life raves about fishing on the New and Gauley Rivers. These trips are for the serious fisherman.
