SPRINGTIME EXCITEMENT

Spring rains increase water volume producing larger waves, huge hydraulics, swift moving currents and the best in Rapid Fun! Spring rafting not only offers the best ride but also the best value. All spring full day trips come complete with a hot soup lunch and hot beverages before and after your trip. Wetsuits, paddling jackets and self-bailing rafts make our springtime rafting fun and comfortable.

Lower New or Lower Gauley
Lower New River Whitewater Rafting

Springtime flows on the New River rival those on the Colorado River! On the Lower Gauley River, rafting levels can approach 12,000 cubic feet per second in April and May as compared with the Fall Drawdown flow of only 2,800 cubic feet in September and October! Mountain River Tours is the closest outfitter to the Lower Gauley and raft this river whenever water conditions allow.

Lower New River - Wild
Our most popular summer trip. Surf at play spots such as the "Lower Railroad Peelout Rapid". Leap off "Jump Rock" to cool down from a day of play!

Upper New River - Mild
Double Ducky Rafting Ideal for families and those looking for a mild experience. Mild rapids are interspersed with calm tranquil pools that allow a break in the action to float, swim or simply relax in the sun. Kids and adults can paddle "Duckies" or the new high performance "Torrents" on this river section.

FANTASTIC FALL

Lower Gauley - Wild
Upper Gauley Put-in - Summersville Dam

Long, wave-filled, roller coaster style rapids are characteristic of this scenic river canyon. Paddle through "Heaven Help Us" and "Pure Screaming Hell" rapids. Raft 20 major rapids in 14 miles.

Upper Gauley - Wild
The Upper Gauley is technically demanding, with huge single drops and long boulder strewn rapids. Plummet over "Sweet's Falls" and plunge into "Pillow Rock" as you encounter over 50 major rapids in 12 miles! This river section is recommended for experienced rafters only.

Gauley Overnight - or All The Way!
Raft the two sections of the Gauley in two days, camping by the river bank at a rustic campsite in between. Or, raft all 28 miles and 70 major rapids on the Upper and Lower Gauley in one day. This trip is recommended for experienced rafters only.
