ABOUT ZEPHYR INLINE SKATE TOURS

Friends Made on a Zephyr Inline Skating TripZephyr offers vacation adventures for inline skaters. If you are not yet a skater, we can help you with that as well! We arrange active vacations and take care of all the details: locating a smooth, flat route in an interesting location; finding small and inviting hotels or inns; providing hearty breakfasts and delicious dinners; arranging for a support van and guides to accompany you on the tours; and providing the nation's best instructors at our Camps. All our guides are Certified Skating Instructors and we hold optional instructional clinics on every tour to help you improve your skating skills. Our Learn-To-Skate Camps are for beginning to intermediate skaters -- learn to skate in a relaxed, vacation atmosphere! Our group size averages about 20 skaters (although we can accommodate up to 24). One of the best parts of a tour is meeting the other active, outgoing participants.

IS SKATE TOURING FOR YOU?

Rollerblading/Skating Down The Open RoadOur tours are fun and easy. Here's why: Our tours are easy because they are designed to accommodate skaters of all ability levels, from beginner to advanced. How do we do this? First, we select routes that are flat and generally traffic free. We avoid hills on most routes. Second, we have multiple routes each day: short, medium, and long. Short routes are about 12-15 miles (easily achievable in a day's skate with stops) and long routes range up to 40 miles, so you have the option to skate as little or as much as you like. Third, our tours are structured to provide you the freedom as you need. Each morning, we give you directions and discuss the routes, suggesting interesting things to see and highlighting particular areas. You are then free to skate the route of your choice at your own speed; generally people break into smaller groups with others who skate at a similar speed or distance. Fourth, if you ever need it, we have a support van that cruises up and down the route. Finally, all our guides are Certified Skating Instructors and also certified in First Aid and CPR.

Our tours are fun because the skaters who are our customers tend to be naturally social, outgoing, and active people. The groups can more accurately be described as a group of independent travelers with a common bond -- they love adventure and skating. We find great skating and cultural locations, handle all the details, and leave the rest up to you!

TOUR LOCATIONS

Local Support in the NetherlandsEach of our locations meets our basic requirements of flat, safe routes; friendly hotels and delicious restaurants; and interesting things to see and do. Beyond that, each tour is a little different.

Our Netherlands tours are our flagship tours and for good reason. Flat and full of bicycle paths, The Netherlands is the perfect place for an inline skating tour. You skate through the countryside from town to charming town, stopping when your heart desires to photograph numerous windmills, 17th-century churches or dikes. By the time you get to our destination town, your luggage is in your room and the street-side pub is calling your name.

Believe it or not, we have found a great flat tour location in Switzerland. We skate down the Rhone River Valley on flat paved paths with steep Alpine scenery surrounding you on both sides. The tour is an excellent combination of culture and recreation, as we combine skating with winery visits, French, German and Swiss cuisine, hikes to abandoned castles, and walks in the mountains. Plus, the Rhone River Valley has the driest and warmest weather in Switzerland!

In the famous Amish country of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, we hit the roads with the local Amish and Mennonite. This is a great place to skate. Imagine roads where the speed is governed more by horses and buggies than by automobiles! There is no better way to see the Amish culture than on skates! Our Pennsylvania Amish tours are all three-day weekends. We stay at Doneker's Guesthouse in Ephrata and spend the weekend leisurely skating along beautiful side roads, passing buggies, schoolchildren on bicycles, and huge white farmhouses.

Our tour in Colorado is located in the heart of the Summit County skiing district. We spend our time skating surrounded by rushing streams, breathtaking canyons and the peaks of the Rockies -- one of the most scenic mountain ranges in the world. Despite the nearby mountains, our paths are relatively flat and the trails we use are newly paved. We stay in the towns of Frisco, Glenwood Springs and Leadville at historic inns and cozy, quaint hotels.

Florida provides an excellent opportunity to skate and take a break from the winter's cold. We run tours in March and December and make use of three outstanding paved trails -- the West Orange Trail, The Withlacoochee Trail and the Pinellas Trail. Our tour runs across the state from east to west, starting near Orlando and ending on the Gulf Coast above Tampa. It includes scenery such as orange groves, alligators, rivers, forests, and some of the nation's top-rated beaches.

The perfect way to see Paris is while on skates! We make use of the city's wide, smooth sidewalks and small side streets to take in all this ancient city has to offer. Each day we discover a different aspect of Paris: the districts, the history, the museums, the landmarks and its famous people. We spend our final day skating along the Seine River, which is closed off to traffic on Sundays. The icing on the cake is skating with thousands of Parisians during their world-famous Friday Night Skate through the city.

Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are two gems off the coast of Cape Cod. Famous for their mix of nautical history, tourism and pricey homes, we love them because of the fantastic paved paths that crisscross the islands. We make use of the luxurious hotels and fabulous restaurants and mix skating with the local culture and scenery on this outstanding tour.

If you don't already skate, or aren't comfortable enough on your skates to enjoy a tour yet, try a Learn-To-Skate Camp. We offer camps in Switzerland, Minnesota and Colorado. We make a pretty bold statement about Zephyr Learn-To-Skate Camps: they are the single best method for adults to learn how to inline skate! How can we be so confident? First, because we have heard it time and again from the "judges" whose opinions really matter: our customers. Second, our instructors are the best in the business! Best of all, you can enjoy a great vacation while learning a lifelong sport and make new friends from all over the world.

SPECIAL TRIPS

Rollerblading/ Inline Skating is Fun!Our tours are a mix of families, singles, and couples. Everyone generally has the common bonds of skating, travel, and love of adventure that make our tours fun. On most of our tours, we accommodate all ability levels from advanced beginner to expert. However, for those of you who have a desire to skate with others of a similar ability level we offer Advanced Tours and Learn-To-Skate Camps. We also offer Bicycle Friendly tours to accommodate bikers, for those of you with non-skating friends or family members.
